The right iPhone 17 screen guard is the one cut for your exact model. The iPhone 17 and 17 Pro both have 6.3-inch screens, the iPhone Air has a 6.5-inch screen and the 17 Pro Max has a 6.9-inch screen, and a guard made for one won't sit properly on another. Check your model name in Settings, then pick the guard that names that model.
Which iPhone 17 models are there, and how big are their screens?
Apple's iPhone 17 family has four main models, plus the smaller iPhone 17e. Here are the screen sizes from Apple's own model list (Apple):
| Your phone | Screen size | Gentrix guard to pick |
|---|---|---|
| iPhone 17 | 6.3-inch | "iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 17" |
| iPhone 17 Pro | 6.3-inch | "iPhone 17 Pro" |
| iPhone Air | 6.5-inch | "iPhone Air" |
| iPhone 17 Pro Max | 6.9-inch | "iPhone 17 Pro Max" |
| iPhone 17e | 6.1-inch | Not in our range |
Notice that the iPhone 17 and the iPhone 17 Pro share a screen size but not a guard. Screen size is only one part of the fit; the corners, the edges and the cut-out at the top matter too. Going by inches alone is an easy way to end up with the wrong guard, so follow the model name instead.

How do you check which iPhone you have?
Don't go by the box or the bill, especially for a second-hand or gifted phone. Go by the phone itself:
- Open the Settings app and tap General.
- Tap About.
- Next to Model Number you'll see a part number. Tap it to see the model number, which starts with "A" (Apple).
- Look up that model number on Apple's Identify your iPhone model page to see exactly which iPhone you have.
Then match that model name to the guard's title word for word. "17 Pro" and "17 Pro Max" are different guards, and so are "17" and "17 Pro".
Does the iPhone 17 need a screen guard if it has Ceramic Shield 2?
Apple says its latest iPhone models have Ceramic Shield 2 on the front, with better scratch resistance (Apple). That's a real step up, and some people are happy to go without a guard.
A tempered glass guard still makes sense if you want a cheap, replaceable layer on top. Keys, coins and sand in a pocket or bag can mark any screen over time. If a guard picks up a scratch or cracks after a fall, you peel it off and fit a new one. Tempered glass is meant to take the hit; it can crack, and that's its job. It doesn't make the phone drop-proof.

What makes an iPhone 17 screen guard fit well with a case?
A guard that fits the screen can still fight your case. Check these before you buy:
- Case-friendly edges. The guard should stop just short of where your case's lip sits. If the case presses on the edge of the guard, it can lift the corners over time.
- Edge-to-edge coverage. A borderless guard covers the visible screen without a thick black frame around your content.
- Earpiece cut-out. Look at how the guard handles the earpiece at the top. A mesh over the opening helps keep lint and dust out of the slot.
- An alignment tool. On a large phone like the 17 Pro Max or the Air, lining up the glass by hand is fiddly. A frame or box that sits over the phone does the lining up for you.
- A clear model name. If the listing says "fits all iPhone 17 models", be wary. As the table above shows, the four models don't share one shape.
For step-by-step fitting (cleaning, dust removal and getting rid of bubbles), see our guide on how to choose and install a tempered glass screen protector.
Where Gentrix fits
We make tempered glass guards for the iPhone 17 family and some earlier iPhones. Each guard is cut for the models named in its title, so pick yours from the model list.
Gentrix tempered glass screen guard for iPhone (also on Amazon.in) comes in versions for the iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, iPhone Air, and one for the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 17. Take the iPhone 17 / 16 Pro version as an example: it's edge-to-edge borderless HD clear glass rated 9H, with a curved edge designed to work with most thin and mid-profile cases and a dust mesh built into the earpiece cut-out. It comes with a dust-free auto-align install box that takes two steps: press the post, pull the tab.
- Suits: iPhone 17 family owners who want full-front coverage and an easy first install at home.
- Not for: the iPhone 17e or any model that isn't named in the list, and very thick rugged cases with a high front lip. Check your model in Settings first.
Prefer a spare? The 2-pack screen guard comes in the same model list, so a second guard is ready on the day the first one takes a knock.

FAQ
Will an iPhone 16 Pro screen guard fit the iPhone 17?
Our guard for the iPhone 16 Pro is the same one we list for the iPhone 17, so yes for that guard. It is not the guard for the iPhone 17 Pro, which has its own.
Can one guard fit both the iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max?
No. The 17 Pro has a 6.3-inch screen and the 17 Pro Max a 6.9-inch screen, so each needs its own guard.
Should I fit the guard with the case on or off?
Off. Take the case off, fit the guard on a clean screen, give it a minute to settle, then put the case back on and check that the lip doesn't press on the guard's edge.
How do I know if my guard is the wrong size?
Signs include a gap along one side, edges that lift where the case lip sits, or a cut-out that doesn't line up with the earpiece. Hold the guard over the screen before you peel the backing; if it doesn't line up, stop and check your model name.
